The Event
The Bike Month Kickoff Party 2026 in partnership with Get There ATX (CoA TPW) is a free all-ages, all-abilities, family-friendly event celebrating the start of Bike Month (May) to promote knowledge of and participation in the various Bike Month events including but not limited to Bike to School Day and Bike to Work Day.
When: Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 from 11 am – 2 pm
Where: Mendez Recreation Center / Metz Neighborhood Park located at 2407 Canterbury St, Austin, TX 78702.
The event will include non-profit and civic engagement booths, bicycle safety and maintenance clinics, additional physical activities/yard games, sustainability information, map-making and city navigation activities, arts and crafts, FrankenBike (bicycle swap meet), other community and neighborhood partners, possibly ride demos by bike shops and vendors, and food.

FrankenBike will be holding a special feature start of Bike Month event at the Kickoff Party.
FrankenBike (n) A free bicycle swap meet held once a month in select U.S. cities that is open to anyone who wants to buy, sell or trade bicycles and bicycle related gear or parts.
There are always great deals on accessories, parts and complete, ready to ride bicycles at FrankenBike. Bringing cash for purchases is always a good plan and often sellers will accept some type of digital payment such as Zelle or Venmo or credit and debit cards.

Food
Grab a XOLO Taco, some snacks, and a canned drink!
Check-in when you arrive to get your free taco token (one per person), but don’t wait too long as it is first come first served for the first 300 attendees. This is good for a taco, a sparking water or an Athletic Brew (while they last), and some grab-n-go snacks.
if you miss the taco train, grab lunch to-go from one of the many nearby establishments and make it a picnic in the park.
