Bike to Work Day

Bike to Work Day is an annual event that promotes the bicycle as an option for commuting to work.

Bike to Work Week will be celebrated May 11-17, with Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Presented by Ghisallo Cycling Initiative in partnership with Get There ATX with support from Waymo, Central Machine Works, and Fueling Station hosts all across the Austin area.​ For more information contact biketoworkatx@ghisallo.org.

Morning Fueling Stations

This year’s Bike to Work Day will include Fueling Stations all around Austin. Fueling Stations will operate from 7 am – 9 am and give out a variety of free treats like coffee, tacos, waffles, snacks, and complimentary bike tune-ups for commuters.

A map and listing of all Fueling Stations are available at the bottom of this page. If you would like to host a Fueling Station, you can sign-up via Ghisallo Cycling Initiative‘s 2026 FUELING STATION SIGN-UP FORM until 11:59 pm on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026.

Get A Free CapMetro Bikeshare Day Pass

CapMetro Bikeshare will be offering free day passes all day on Bike to Work Day.

Use code [COMING SOON] in the One Day Pass option.

CapMetro Bus and Rail have a rack for personal bikes, so you can metro into town with your bike or grab a Bikeshare for the rest of your ride in. The Transit app handles multi-modal trips involving walking, biking (yours or a Bikeshare), buses, and rail.

Guided Group Rides

Ghisallo Cycling Initiative will be leading three group rides stopping at Fueling Stations along the way to City Hall. Rides will arrive at City Hall around 8:45 am.

Northeast Group Ride (route) : Austin Public Library -Windsor Park Branch, meet-up 6:50 am, wheels down 7:00 am

Southeast Group Ride (route) : Radio/East, meet-up 6:50 am,
wheels down 7:00 am

East Side Mass-Up! Group Ride (route) : Austin Bouldering Project – Springdale, wheels down 7:30 am, merging with the NE and SE rides on the way to City Hall

South-Central Group Ride (route) : Merfolk’s Specialty Coffee, meet-up 7:00 am, wheels down 7:15 am

City Hall Celebration​

This central event takes place at the front entrance of City Hall and will include City of Austin Council Members, Austin Transportation Department staff, and other guest speakers.

Multiple groups will be in attendance providing information and swag from 7 am – 9:30 am. Breakfast tacos and beverages will be provided.

Speakers will start around 9 am with a group photo around 9:20 am.

Features remarks by Mayor Kirk Watson, District 8 Council Member Paige Ellis, and Transportation and Public Works Assistant Director Anna Martin.

Happy Hour

An end of the day wind down with fellow riders at the After Party, hosted by Central Machine Works from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

Food & drink specials for riders! Tons of picnic tables inside and outside, plenty of bike parking.
