DESCRIPTION:Yearly nighttime ride organized by the Moonlight Tower Ride Facebook Group which visits the remaining Moonlight Towers around Austin. \nThe ride starts on the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge\, ends at the Zilker Park Moonlight Tower\, and is about 20 miles of riding. We meet up in the middle of the bridge: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gawbJsSHPx17D4E98 \nBe sure to show up a little early as we try to start rolling at 8pm and bring front and rear bike lights as we will be riding after sunset. \nEveryone is welcome. Pace is casual but not slow. The ride will be a no drop ride. We can pause and let people catch up. If we get separated\, we’ll wait to regroup. If anyone gets a flat\, and the flat can be fixed\, we wait. Always a good time to chat fixing a flat. Bring water snacks and an adult beverage if you like. \nThis year we’ll have 4 stops. Two short\, two not so short. First at stop at 15th and San Antonio (short stop\, more like a pause). Second stop at 41st & Speedway (“one beer” stop). Third stop at Canturbury and Lynn (short stop\, more like a pause). Fourth stop at Eastside Dr & Leland (“one beer” stop). SUMMARY:Bike Month Kick-off Celebration
DESCRIPTION:We are kicking off Bike Month on Saturday\, May 3 with a celebration of cycling\, culture\, and community! \nThis special event – put together by Black History Bike Ride (BHBR)\, Major Taylor Cycling Club of Austin (MTCC ATX)\, and Yellow Bike Project (YBP) – will begin with a bike ride concluding at the Carver Branch\, Austin Public Library.  \nFollowing the ride\, we’ll host a film program starting with a screening of the Black History Bike Ride documentary “Momentum: The Origin Story of Black History Bike Ride”\, followed by “This Is My Moment”. \nThe featured film follows Eritrean cyclist Biniam Girmay’s historic rise as the first Black African to win cycling’s elite classics and Grand Tour stages. The event will conclude with a Q&A session featuring Austin-based Eritrean road cyclist Zemikael Negash\, who trained with Biniam during their teenage years in Eritrea. \nWe are hosting two bike rides (ALL LEVELS & ROAD BIKE)\, both starting at 8:45 AM and ending at 9:45 AM at the Carver Branch\, Austin Public Library.
